Dianna's Advice for Aspiring Writers

  • If you want to be a writer, don’t let anyone – including yourself – tell you that you can’t.
  • You, too, can become a novelist.
  • Keep writing. Keep submitting. Never give-up.
  • Read, read, read. Write, write, write.
  • And, finally, best of luck to you.

More about writing

The two biggest questions Dianna is asked: 1) When did you become a writer? 2) How do you come up with your stories?

The day President Reagan was shot, Dianna was in 5th grade. From that real event that day, she developed all sorts of fictional scenes and dialogue in her head, something she did constantly with everything. When she asked friends, classmates, teachers, etc. what scenes/stories they came up with because of the attempted assassination on the President, they all looked at her as if an alien had taken over her body. At that moment, she realized she was the only person she knew who did this sort of thing everyday.

As time past, she recognized she had passion to write fictional stories with suspense and a romantic element, and, like breathing it’s just something she simply does automatically. Being an EMT, being a mom, and being blessed with this writer brain, the stories just never stop flowing. Developing a good story, however, is where the real writing occurs. Fortunately, she loves the arduous revision process as it is where she takes her shell of a story and makes it worth reading.
